PBL Art (Project Based Learning)

  • Art by Era in Grandville - For more information click the link to Art by Era's Facebook page. There you will find the new fall schedule and a link to register online at the Art by Era website.

  • Art Studio by Lea in SE Grand Rapids offers art classes for K-12th grade at all levels. Classes will be designed to pique the interest of all and will vary according to season. Lea's sessions will have equal focus on handicrafts and art inspired by Charlotte Mason, artist studies, and utilizing special techniques!   • Grand Rapids Civic Theater, Students can take 1- 3 classes combined during their Fall and Winter terms (depending on cost of each class).   For Spring term you can take 1-3 classes (depending on cost of classes), or 1 class plus the performance block.  If you are interested in the performance block, please make sure to take all prerequisites.   This is only available as a year long community partner lab and cannot be added at second semester. Call (616) 222-6653 for information on registration. A PBL Art  or PBL Music is required to take classes here as an optional lab.

  • Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. KCAD's Continuing Studies program offers Saturday youth classes during the school year and day camp during spring break  ranging in topics from drawing to video game design. To see a sample of  courses, click the link above.  Hamilton students will be eligible for 1-2 five week sessions per semester (depending on interest), and/or the spring break day camp.  PBL for Art or  PBL STEM is required to attend KCAD as an optional lab. 

  • Kroc Center in Grand Rapids.There's something for everyone at the Kroc Center.  They offer classes in PE, Art and Music. Hamilton will cover tuiiton for students to take one session at a time per PBL with up to 3 sessions per semester. Please note: Students must choose classes in the same PBL category for a whole semester. Click the Kroc Center link above or call (616) 588-7200 for more information on classes and registration.  

  • Master Arts Theatre in Grand Rapids offers  Fall Youth Acting Classes  beginning Monday, September 25th from 4:30 to 6:30PM. Classes last 12 weeks and consist of warmups, acting lessons and practice for the final performance.   The semester will end with a  three performance weekend of O’Henry One Acts. The performances will be Friday and Saturday, January 12 and 13, 2018. Please note that this is a FIRST SEMESTER ONLY lab for PBL Art.  To register, contact Walt at 616-455-1001

  • Parent Teacher Coop (PTC)  in Byron Center.  Please note: Taking the class through Hamilton does not eliminate the need to meet their requirements for parents or students.  Parents still need to volunteer.  Please read through their guidelines before signing up for this class which are located on their Registration Form link.   

  • Sensibly Homemade by Stacey Richards in Grandville/Wyoming area offers sewing classes for all levels. Students will learn to use the machines functions, how to use a pattern, basic construction skills and move on to more advanced projects.
