Sophomore broadcaster sends social media into a frenzy after energetic call at boys basketball game
It was a memorable night inside the Hamilton High School gymnasium—and sophomore broadcaster Aiden Lynch delivered a call worthy of the moment.
As the final seconds ticked away in Hamilton’s 57–45 varsity boys basketball victory over West Catholic, Superintendent Dr. Bradford Lusk entered the gym and approached the Hawkeye student section.
Students quickly noticed Dr. Lusk and began chanting his name before turning their attention to the possibility of a snow day. With winter weather approaching West Michigan, they were hoping the superintendent had arrived with an announcement.
He had.
Standing in front of the student section, Dr. Lusk raised his arms and announced that Hamilton Community Schools would be closed Wednesday, February 22.
The student section erupted—and so did Lynch.
“And Lusk calls the snow day!” Lynch exclaimed during the live Hamilton Hawkeyes Athletics broadcast. “Breaking news! Lusk just called a snow day right here at the student section! Oh my goodness! Oh, I have never seen that before!”
As students jumped from their seats and surrounded Dr. Lusk in celebration, Lynch continued his enthusiastic call.
“Breaking news! Lusk called the snow day at Hamilton!” he announced. “No school for me tomorrow!”
Lynch has provided play-by-play commentary for Hamilton’s varsity boys basketball home games throughout the season. His genuine excitement made the snow-day announcement sound more like a championship-winning moment—and immediately captured the spirit inside the gymnasium.
The video began spreading rapidly across social media, with viewers celebrating Lynch’s enthusiasm and the unforgettable reaction from Hamilton’s student section.
It was the perfect conclusion to an exciting night for the Hawkeyes: a varsity basketball victory, an unexpected announcement and one electric call from a talented student broadcaster.
