Whitney Hobbs introduction to Hamilton Community Schools.

Why did you choose to apply for this role at Hamilton Community Schools?

I chose to apply for this role because it was a perfect combination of my passions: working with children and families, and providing quality educational opportunities for children in my community. Being part of the Hamilton community has always felt like being part of a family and I am excited to get to be a part of that in this capacity.

What do you know about our Hawkeye Kids program and what are your goals for your kids and the program as a whole?

When my daughter started school last year through Hamilton Community Schools, we found ourselves in the same spot as many parents trying to make sure we had quality care while my husband and I worked. With limited options in the area, the creation of Hawkeye Kids met a huge need in the community. Morgan Koops worked extremely hard to get the program running and my ultimate goal is to take the good foundation that has been created and keep moving the program forward to ensure quality care for the students of Hamilton Community Schools both before and after school as well as summer programming. My goal is that each child who participates feels valued, respected, supported and cared for during their time with us.

The Hawkeye Preschool program is another big asset to the Hamilton community and my goal is to continue to grow the program and offer affordable, quality education and experiences to set a good foundation for lifelong learning for our youngest students of Hamilton Community Schools.

What would you like our parents to know about you?

I would like parents to know that we are here to be partners with them in their child's education and that we take the responsibility of caring for their child(ren) very seriously. I welcome open communication and I am very honored to be able to be a small part of their child's education journey.

Tell us about you!

My degree is in elementary and early childhood education. I have experience in both elementary and early childhood education, and child welfare. My husband and I moved to Hamilton about four years ago and have been raising our two children here since. We love being part of the Hamilton community and were drawn to it by the family-friendly atmosphere and good school district.

Share some fun facts about yourself!

Most of my time is spent with my family, exploring and doing all the fun things living in West Michigan has to offer. We love to be outside on the lakeshore in the summer, at sporting events—especially Michigan and Lions football—in the fall, and on the ski slopes in the wintertime. My hobbies include crafting, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
