Mrs. Weller's Blue Star Elementary music class learns from “monster rhythms”

Music students across the district and at Blue Star Elementary are practicing reading four-beat rhythms with Mrs. Weller. These rhythms are made up of quarter rests, quarter notes and paired eighth notes.

“The students are reading rhythms and WANT to take risks because this allows them to then Feed the Monster,” said Mrs. Weller. “It is great fun, a way to practice reading musical rhythms, and also a stealthy way for an assessment to occur with no anxiety on their parts.”
