Some moments in sports feel bigger than the game itself — and this is one of them for Hamilton Varsity Girls Basketball.

Thirty years ago, three teammates shared the court together as members of the 1996 Hamilton Varsity Girls Basketball team. Today, their daughters are carrying on that same Hawkeye tradition — playing side-by-side for Hamilton.

It’s a remarkable full-circle story that highlights the deep roots of the Hamilton community and the lasting bonds built through athletics.

The mothers and daughters pictured include:

  • Left: Kim (Grotenhuis) Petroelje and her daughter, Brooke
  • Middle: Bess (Reuschel) Paskvan and her daughter, Joselyn
  • Right: Lisa (Lubbers) VanOmmen and her daughter, Allie

Three decades after competing together in the black and gold, these former teammates now get to watch their daughters wear the same Hawkeye uniform and create their own memories on the court.
