While many students are soaking in the sun or working summer jobs, Hamilton High School junior-to-be Parker Bursk is traveling the Midwest and beyond chasing his passion — racing.

Parker, who has been behind the wheel for over five years, is currently competing in the Spec 944 series, a class built around identical 1986 Porsche 944s where skill and race craft make all the difference.

“This is something I really love to do,” Parker said. “It’s not just about being in the driver’s seat. There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes in racing, and I enjoy all of it.”

What started with a quarter midget car from Facebook Marketplace has turned into weekends on the road, podium finishes, and a shot at two regional championships. So far this season, Parker has podiumed every weekend — a testament to his hard work and dedication.

“This sport seemed like something I had to try, and once I got in that first car, I didn’t want to stop,” Parker said.

Whether he’s turning wrenches, working with his team, or prepping for a race weekend, Parker is constantly staying busy and pushing forward — exactly the kind of drive we love to highlight at Hamilton Community Schools.
