Hamilton Community Schools’ band program continues to perform at an exceptional level, earning top honors once again at District Band Festival.

Last week, the high school symphonic band along with both the 7th Grade Band and 8th Grade Band received straight 1’s — the highest possible rating from every judge. Their performances capped off another remarkable showing for the district’s music program.

The success doesn’t stop there:

  • This marks the second consecutive year that all three Hamilton bands — 7th Grade, 8th Grade, and High School Symphonic Band — have earned straight 1’s at District Band Festival.

  • It is the fourth year in a row that every Hamilton band attending District Festival has earned an overall First Division rating.

  • The High School Symphonic Band has now earned a First Division rating for six straight years, qualifying once again for State Band Festival.

Judges were highly complimentary of the High School Symphonic Band’s performance, noting:

“Outstanding performance! Bravo! There is some GREAT instruction going on here!”
“Musically stunning! You play so beautifully!”

These achievements reflect not only the talent and dedication of Hamilton’s student musicians, but also the leadership of band directors Mr. Joe Herrick and Mr. Paul Connelly, whose commitment to excellence continues to elevate the program year after year.

From middle school through high school, Hamilton bands are building a culture of consistency, discipline, and pride. Way to go, Hawkeyes!
