Hamilton Community Schools is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our Women’s Chorale and Honors Choir, who both earned an Excellent rating at the District Choral Festival, qualifying them for the State Choral Festival in May.

Under the direction of Mrs. Israels and Mr. Connelly, the choirs demonstrated exceptional preparation, artistry, and professionalism throughout their performances. Students sang with expert technique and expressive detail across multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Italian, and Latin. Their performances reflected not only musical skill, but also the discipline and teamwork required to perform at such a high level.

In addition to their prepared pieces, both choirs were evaluated on sightreading — a process in which students must perform unfamiliar music on the spot without assistance from their directors. This portion of the festival highlights music literacy, focus, and foundational training. Hamilton’s students excelled here as well, earning high scores and strong commendations from judges.

Adjudicators praised the ensembles with comments such as:

  • “Amazing, unified, and mature tone!”

  • “Lovely musical lines.”

  • “There is an excellent sense of ensemble in this group.”

These remarks reflect the countless hours of rehearsal, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by our students and directors.

We congratulate Women’s Chorale, Honors Choir, Mrs. Israels, and Mr. Connelly on this impressive accomplishment and look forward to cheering them on at the State Choral Festival this spring.
