The Hamilton varsity football team's offensive line received special recognition from 13 On Your Sidelines during their football show on Friday, September 20. The Hawkeyes were honored for their exceptional performance in a 49-0 win over Grand Rapids Union on September 13, where they helped the offense amass 425 total yards, including 309 on the ground improving to 2-1 on the season.
"We all worked in the weight room in the off-season," said senior Breslin Nykamp. "We are all level-headed, we're all equal, we don't have too big of leaders and we're all just great friends."
The offensive line, consisting of left tackle Ben Nykamp, left guard Breslin Nykamp, center Tyler Michelson, right guard Dakota Breuker, right tackle Dominic VanDerHulst, H-Back Logan Eding, and tight end AJ Friedriechsen, was presented with a plaque to celebrate their achievement.
"This is a great thing for our line," said Dominic VanDerHulst, "We've all been putting the work in and working as a team, it paid off. It is really cool to feel appreciated for our work because offensive lines don't really get talked about."
The Hawkeyes will take on Wayland on Friday, Sept. 20 at home.
