The Hamilton High School band is hitting all the right notes this spring, earning straight Division I (Superior) ratings and all A’s across every score sheet at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) District Festival at Kent City High School on Friday, May 2.

Under the direction of band teacher Joe Herrick, the ensemble delivered a performance that not only impressed the panel of adjudicators but left a lasting impression.

“One of the judges actually sought me out after our performance,” Herrick said. “She told me that our band’s performance was one of the best she’s heard all year from any group. That kind of feedback means the world — not just for me, but for our students.”

The band was evaluated in multiple categories, the perfect scores and glowing reviews reflect months of hard work, practice, and collaboration among the student musicians.

“Today’s high marks only confirm what I already know,” Herrick added. “This band is such an outstanding group of musicians and people. It is my honor every single day to get to work with them.”

Congratulations to these talented students and their dedicated director on a truly memorable and well-deserved achievement!
