For Andrew and his wife, Robin, the choice to send their daughter to Bentheim Elementary is one they make with confidence—every single day. Despite living 25 minutes away, the family happily makes the drive as School of Choice parents after doing research of districts around them.
“We have a daughter attending Bentheim Elementary,” Andrew shared. “Well, it’s about a 25-minute drive… I like it. I like the relationships that she has with her friends here and her teacher as well.”
For their family, the decision began with the strength of Hamilton’s academics and facilities, but quickly became about much more.
“I liked how their academic program was very strong and their sporting facilities were very nice and organized,” she said. “But also, the tight-knit community—everyone seemed very involved, everybody knew everybody, and it was just very family-oriented.”
From Hawkeye Preschool last school year to Bentheim Elementary this year, both parents say what has stood out most is the dedication of the staff.
“The teachers are very involved with the students,” Robin added. “You can tell they’re very hands-on and that they have a strong passion for the kids. The kids just adore the teachers.”
Andrew agrees wholeheartedly: “I wouldn't hesitate if you're a parent looking around. It’s a great school. The faculty is awesome and they really care about the students and look after them.”
The family is already looking forward to the future.
“I’m looking forward to sending our youngest here once he gets a little older,” Andrew said. “Hopefully he’ll be involved in sports, and we’ll get to watch both of them grow up here. We’re just very excited for the opportunity. Go Hawkeyes."
