HAMILTON, Mich. (November 6, 2025) – Hamilton Community Schools is proud to announce a generous $10,000 donation from the newly remodeled Pilot Travel Center in Holland, Michigan. This contribution will directly support the district’s innovative Ignite program, which provides 9th and 10th grade students with hands-on career exploration and job-ready skills in the skilled trades.

The donation comes as part of Pilot Company’s nationwide New Horizons store modernization initiative and its community-focused Miles of Good program, which supports education, safety, and veterans in communities across the country.

“We are extremely grateful for Pilot’s partnership and their investment in the future of our students,” said Dr. Brad Lusk, Superintendent of Hamilton Community Schools. “This donation will help our district continue preparing students for meaningful futures and strengthen the innovative programs that make Hamilton unique. The Ignite program is designed to help students discover their passions and build relevant skills for life after high school, and this gift helps us expand those opportunities.”

The Ignite program gives students who are interested in the trades an opportunity to learn from industry professionals while earning valuable experience through local partnerships. Participants engage in hands-on learning opportunities in fields such as construction, electrical work, plumbing, and more — including collaborations with ROUTE in Holland, the Outdoor Discovery Center, and Habitat for Humanity.

“Through Pilot’s generosity, we’re able to enhance the real-world learning that helps our students prepare for purpose,” added Matt Rehkopf, HCS Director of Career, College and Innovative programming said. “Community support like this shows our students that their goals in the skilled trades are valued and supported.”

The newly renovated Pilot Travel Center, located at 853 Interchange Drive in Holland, recently completed a full curb-to-counter remodel featuring updated amenities, fresh food options, and modernized facilities. As part of its celebration, Pilot chose to give back to the Hamilton community by supporting education and workforce development.
