Hamilton Community Schools is benefitting from a new partnership with the West Michigan Regional Airport in Holland. On Monday, January 23, Mrs. Chambers' 6th graders took a visit to learn about the history of the airport, its economic impact, and different careers in aviation.

The students also enjoyed learning how to fly on the flight simulators and took a tour of the hangars, even getting to sit inside the cockpit of real airplanes.

"We took an opportunity to partner with Hamilton Community Schools because they've been a very engaged partner on a lot of our education initiatives," said Director of the West Michigan Regional Airport Authority. "We're trying to get students out of the classroom and into the airport to learn more about what the airport does and the services it provides."

The Hamilton visit is the first of its kind for the West Michigan Regional Airport but they're hopeful it could lead to a future in furthering local education, including potentially at the Careerline Tech Center and Ottawa Area ISD.
