Hamilton Community Schools is launching a brand-new way to connect with the community — introducing the H2Know Podcast, a series designed to take listeners beyond the headlines and into the heart of the district.
Each episode will feature conversations with district leaders, staff, and community members, diving deeper into topics that shape the Hamilton experience — from innovative classroom programs and transportation to athletics and college partnerships.
Superintendent Dr. Brad Lusk says the podcast was born from a desire to meet people where they are.
“One of the things we try to do is really communicate with people where they’re at,” Lusk shared. “We’ve done that through videos, newsletters, and social media — and now we’re adding something new. The H2Know Podcast isn’t meant to replace anything we already do; it’s meant to expand on it.”
Dr. Lusk said the idea came after hearing about similar initiatives at other districts and seeing how podcasts could reach audiences in a different, more convenient way.
“We know our families and community members are busy,” he continued. “They might not have time to read every post or watch a full video, but they can throw on a podcast while driving to work, cooking dinner, or working out. It’s another way for us to share important information — and dive into the weeds on topics that deserve more explanation.”
Deep dives into district programs
From early college partnerships and transportation to athletics and classroom innovation, the H2Know Podcast will break down how Hamilton programs work, what opportunities are available for students, and why these initiatives matter.
“People might know about a program, but not understand all the specifics,” said Lusk. “This podcast lets us go step-by-step and offer insight into how things work behind the scenes.”
The first episode features Dr. Lusk himself, discussing the why behind starting the podcast and how it aligns with the district’s strategic vision of improving communication and community engagement. Future episodes will include Athletic Director Eric Talsma and Transportation Supervisor Kathy Dykema, among others.

Each episode will also be shared on the district’s website and social media platforms.
“Our goal is to educate, connect, and inform,” Lusk said. “Whether you’re a parent, student, or community member, this is a way to stay in the know."
