On Thursday, November 10, Hamilton Elementary kindergartners visited the Veterans Memorial at the Heath Township Park. This visit was to teach the students more about Veterans Day and the importance of recognizing our nation's military and veterans. The trip has visited the memorial annually since it was built a few years ago.
"Our kindergarten teachers thought this would be a great way to teach our students about what it means to be a veteran, and to celebrate and honor local veterans," said Hamilton Elementary principal, Dean Kramer. "I certainly agree and was happy to support their request for a “walking field trip” to the memorial. Not all schools are as fortunate as we are with the memorial right next door, and we’re proud to be able to honor our local veterans this way."
Students were led in the Pledge of Allegiance, walked the bricks which feature names of our local veterans, and explored the service plaques.
