Hamilton Elementary's Summer Reading Library has made a large impact on the community.

Mrs. Stacy Smith, Hamilton Elementary's Media Tech has worked in the school library for 20 years and says the summer reading library has been one of her favorite aspects.

"The goal is to get books in the hands of students, so they keep learning all summer long," said Smith, "Students that read during the summer will build on their reading skills. I love hearing about the students' summer and finding the right books they have been looking for."

This summer, over 100 students have visited the library to check out books.

The program was open to the public every Tuesday for several hours from June 14 to August 9, allowing parents/guardians and students to explore different reading material.

Smith adds that the students received bookmarks, animal erasers, and other prizes for students when they checked out books.
