College Credit Opportunities

Hamilton High School offers students multiple opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school. Through Advanced Placement (AP), Dual Enrollment, and Early College programs, students can challenge themselves academically, gain valuable college experience, and potentially save time and money on future college expenses.

Earn College Credit While Completing High School

Early College is a unique opportunity for students who are interested in beginning their college experience while still in high school. The program allows students to combine high school coursework with college-level classes, providing an early start toward earning a college degree.

Beginning in 11th grade and continuing through a 13th year, students have the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate degree. Students benefit from a structured pathway that blends high school support with college-level expectations and experiences.

Program Requirements & Information

  • Application process begins during the student's 10th-grade year
  • Interested students should speak with their school counselor
  • Once enrolled, students may not withdraw from an Early College course without administrative approval
  • Available pathways may include partnerships with Hope College and other approved institutions

Take College Courses While in High School

Dual Enrollment provides motivated students with the opportunity to take courses through accredited colleges and universities while remaining enrolled at Hamilton High School. These courses allow students to pursue advanced learning opportunities that may not be available through the traditional high school curriculum. 

Students can earn college credit while exploring future academic interests and experiencing the expectations of college coursework.

Program Requirements & Information

  • Available to students in grades 9–12
  • Courses must be scheduled outside of regular Hamilton High School class times
  • Students should work with Student Services when selecting courses
  • Some courses may involve additional costs depending on the institution
  • Students may not withdraw from a Dual Enrollment course without prior approval

Challenge Yourself with College-Level Coursework

Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer academically motivated students the opportunity to engage in rigorous, college-level coursework while still attending Hamilton High School. Students who successfully complete AP coursework and perform well on AP exams may be eligible to earn college credit or advanced placement at many colleges and universities. 

All AP courses carry a 1.25 GPA weighting, helping students challenge themselves academically while strengthening their high school transcript.
