Learning Beyond the Traditional Classroom

Hamilton High School offers several courses that connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, career exploration, and workplace expectations. While these courses do not offer college credit, Career & Technical Education (CTE) credit, or industry-recognized certifications, they provide students with valuable opportunities to develop skills that are essential in today's workforce.

Through project-based learning, business partnerships, teamwork, leadership experiences, and real-world problem solving, students gain a better understanding of how classroom learning applies to careers and life beyond high school.

Solving Real Problems for Real Businesses

Business Innovations introduces students to the Design Thinking problem-solving process through hands-on projects and partnerships with local businesses. Students work collaboratively to solve real-world challenges identified by community business partners.

Using a Project-Based Learning (PBL) model inspired by the I Challenge U framework, students engage in research, collaboration, communication, and presentation activities while developing solutions to authentic business problems.

Students will:

  • Work in collaborative teams
  • Visit and tour local businesses
  • Interact with business professionals
  • Conduct research
  • Analyze real-world challenges
  • Develop and present solutions
  • Strengthen communication and presentation skills

At the conclusion of the course, students present their recommendations directly to business leaders.

Learn Business by Running a Business

School Store Marketing provides students with hands-on business and marketing experience through the operation of Hawk's Landing, Hamilton High School's student-run school store.

Students apply marketing, business, customer service, and management concepts through project-based learning experiences while helping manage daily store operations.

Students gain experience in:

Students are expected to participate in store operations outside of class as part of the learning experience.
